Vade venkatadri meeda vara deivamu

Pallavii:           Vade venkatadri meeda vara deivamu, podimitho podachupe podaveina deivamu.

Hay! See. The great Lord is there on the hill Venkatadri. He is tall, gloriously  present there. Yes, oh!, that is The great Lord Sree Venkateswara.

Charanam1:        Okkokka Roma koopana nogi brahmanda kotlu, pikkatilla velugonde penudeivamu
Pakkananu thanaloni padunalgu lokalu, thokki padana goloche Dodda deivamu

Pikkatilla velugonde" means, blasting flashes of light, of such an intensity , which one can not see.
Lord Venkatesa is God of god's. This Lord of lords , is defined as light of lights. This Devine light or Brightness is spreading engulfingly, in all Lokas with light waves. Here, Sree Annamayya describes the true form of Almighty., as Light of exorbitant exponential volts. All 14 Lokas are existing in this Devine Brightness only.  This only Sustaining these Lokas.
In One of the incarnations of Lord Sree Maha Vishnu, i.e. Vamanavatharam, Lord lifted his foot,, stretched to sky's, inorder
to measure the space. Second foot was kept on Empror Bali, who granted unlimited space to Vamana.  Lord Vishnu came down to earth, taking the form of a short Brahmin, in order to save the innocent from evil characters. In this mission of restoring the righteousness, Lord pushed down  Bali, the king of rakshasas to Patala lok, while measuring the fourteen Lokas with another foot.

Charanam2 :    Veda sasthralu nuthinchi, Vesari kanagaleni modapu pekku gunala moola deivamu.
Podi devathalanella puttincha rakshincha, Adi karanambeina aju ganna deivamu.

The Supreme Devine, pocessing all good admirable  qualities, and praised in Four Vedas , is Invisible .
The Lord of venkatadri alone created Brahma, the prime source of creation of the other  Devine entities."   That's why , Venkatesudu  is Ajuganna deivamu".

Charanam3:    Sarusa sankhachakralu saripatti. Asurula tharagi padavesina dandideivamu
Siri uramunaninchi  sree venkatesudai saranagathula gache sathameinadeivamu

Venkatadri vara deivamu holds a Dandam in his hand. That's why, he is called," Dandi deivamu".
This Dandi deivamu, cut to death , all rakshasas with his "Devine Disc", holding the shank in other hand.  Having Sree Maha Lakshmi in his chest, he became, Sree Lakshmi Venkatesa. He saves all his Bhaktas.

In this song , Annamayya praises sree Venkatesaya,  with all special titles.
Vara deivamu, podaveina deivamu, penudeivamu deivamu, Dodda deivamu, Moola deivamu,
Ajuganna deivamu, Dandi deivamu, Satameina deivamu, are all , glorifying names of  Sree Venkatesa.  Annamayya defines the Paramatma , Sree Venkateswara, as" Light."
The 17th century  bhakth, Sri Saint Thyagaraja also, defined the almighty as "Light" , in one of his songs.               "Paramatmudu veluge muchchataga, Baga thelusukore".
" Paramatmudu is nothing but Light only, know this great truth very well."  Is the meaning of the above line. One very interesting aspect is specified in the second charanam. i.e.
We all know that Brahma is the creator of everything , while that Brama himself is,  Lord Sree Venkatesa's creation.

Note: This song is available in a cd" Namo Narayanaya " (Lahari  recording company ).

Evvarevvarivado EE Jeevudu

Pallavii:            Evvarevvarivado EE Jeevudu chuda, evvariki emouno ee Jeevudu

Annamayya was referring to his soul. This soul belongs to how many people?, to whom it relates?. Jeevudu means a" soul".

Charanam1:    Endariki kodukugadee jeevudu, venuka endariki thobuttudee jeevudu
Endarini bramiinchadee Jeevudu, duhkha mendariki gavimpadee jeevudu.

In this charanam, Annamayya speaks about " punarjanma siddhantamu". ( thoery of cycle of births ).
Soul changes the body, acquires another body, in every birth. Entire Hindu philosophy is based on this "theory of birth and rebirth."  In the previous births, to how many people, my soul was a son, to howmany, it was a brother or sister,? To howmany, this soul is related?, to howmany  it caused agony, while leaving the body?.

Charanam2:   Ekkadekkada thirugadee jeevuda, venuka kekkado thana janma mee jeevudu
Ekkadi chuttamu thanaku nee Jeevudu, eppudekkadiki neguno ee jeevudu

Where this my soul roamed in it's previous births?
Where this soul took birth in the previous births? To whom this soul connected?, where will it go?

Charanam3:      Ekkadunu chetulenee Jeevudu , venukakenni thanuvulu moyadee jeevudu
Ennagala thiru Venkatesa Mayala thagili ennipadavula pondadee jeevudu

A soul never dies., only changes the attire. Such a soul of mine, howmany  bodies might it has changed?  Caught into the web of  Lord Sree Venkatesa's mystic Devine illusions, howmany portpholios may it acquire?

Annamayya is addressing his own soul. As a great philosopher of those times, as a self realised soul, he is thinking about his soul- transformation in different births. He was grieving for the pain , he had given to many people , to whom he was related. Here, the mystery is, no one knows, what he was in his previous births. What portpholios, one played in one's earlier births,? ,not known. This is the
Mystery of a soul's play ,how, Lord sree Venkatesa designed ,in this whole creation. So, in this sankeertana, Annamayya , filled with remorse, sings about the philosophy of life, the philosophy  of a soul, the philosophy of the " cycle of births".

Thandanana Ahi

Pallavii :         Thandanana ahi thandanana pure thandanana Bhala thandanana.

Thandanana is a catch word. An exclamatory word of jubilation.Thandanana, thandanana Bhara thandanana.

Charanam1:      Brahmamokkate parabrahmamokkate
                        Para Brahmamokkate Para Brahmamokkate

Brahma and Parabrahma, are the same Supreme Devine entities. Para means, Ultimate. So, Brahma
and Parabrahma resemble the same, and both are identical.Ultimate power is Parabrahmam.

Charanam2 :      Kanduvagu heenadhikamu lindulevu.Andariki sree Hare Antharathma.
Indulo janthukulamintha okkate, Andariki sreeHare Antharatma.

Nothing is great nor worst in this universe.Inside everything dwells Sree Hari only.  Animals belong to one category, Humans one category, but even inside animals also dwells the same Sree Hari.

Charanam3:       Nindaara raju nidrinchu nidrayou nokate, andane bantu nidra, adiunu okate
Mendeina  brahmanudu, mettabhumiunokate, chandaludundeti saribhumi okate

Anybody's sleep, either a king's  or a servant's ,is the same. Either a Brahmin or a schedule caste man
Lives on the same land, wether that is Barron or fertile .

In this song, Annamayya explains the sense of these two entities, Brahmam and Parabrahmam clearly,.Both the entities are great power stores, same in their nature ., but vary only in the quantums of energies. Both are identical but Paramatma dwells in all living beings,  irrespective of their status or caste. The moment, he realised this truth, his excitement hiked to boundless levels. He started shouting Thandanana, thandanana , singing this song. He visualised the all pervading Paramatma.,everywhere and in everything, Inside all humans and animals, irrespective of status. Nothing is great or low for the presence of Paramatma .This sankeertana is a jubilation song of Annamayya's " Truth Realisation."

Verapulu vorapulu vrudha

Pallavii:                 Verapulu, vorapulu vrudha vrudha, dharapei mariyanthaunu vrudha

In this world, all actions of exhibition are absolutely waste.

Charanam1:        Thadayakachesina danambulu vrudha, eda eda erigina eruka vrudha.
Odaliloni Hari onaraga mathilo, tadavani jeevame thanaku vrudha

Charities done freehandedly are all waste, knowing many lands of different places is waste.
If one forgets to realise the Lord Hari, residing inside the body, then that life is waste.

Charanam2:      Jagamuna badacina santhanamu vrudha, thgili gadinchina dhanamu vrudha.
Jagadeka vibhuni, sakalathmuni Hari, thegi koluvani buddhiunu vrudha

In this world, what u think as your kith and kin is waste, the wealth u earned with a great difficulty is also waste. The only one Lord of this entire world, the all pervading Atma is Sree Hari. If one won't worship That Lord Hari, his intellect is waste.

Charanam3:     Panivadi koodina parinamamu vrudha, onaraga Undina vuniki vrudha
Ghanudagu thiruvenkatagiri Hari gani, mananerani janmamulu vrudha

All changes done deliberately are waste, the existance is also waste, even this precious birth is waste, if
One doesn't see the great Lord Venkatesa. Not only this birth, all birth go waste if, one ignores praying Lord Venkatesa.

In this song, Sree Annamacharya emphasises the impartence of a human birth. All worldly acquisitions
Are of no use, because they won't come along with  anybody, after death. Anybody's birth gets value, only by praying Lord Venkateswara. The very purpose of this birth is , Realising the Hari dwelling inside.

                                            Om Namo Venkatesaya

Bhavamulona bahyamunamduna

Pallavii:                Bhavamulona bahyamunanduna Govinda govindayanikoluvaro manasa

O Mind! Always pray Lord Govinda, either in thought or speach.

Charanam1:        Hariyavatharamule akhiladevathalu,  Harilonive brahmandamulu
Harinamamule annimanthramulu, hair hari, hair hari yanavo manasa

All devathas are incarnations of Hari only, entire universe is in Hari, different names of Hari are different Manthras, chant always Lord's name, Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari.

Charanam2:     Vishnuni  mahimale vihitha karmamulu, Vishnuni pogadedi vedambulu                                                         Vishnudokkade visvantarathmakudu, Vishnuvu vishnuvani, vedukavo manasa

The miracles of Vishnu are the Devine actions. Four Vedas praise Lord Vishnu, singing those Devine actions. Vishnu is the Universal Self. Search to see Lord Vishnu.

Charanam2:         Achyuthudithade, Adiunanthamu, Achyuthude Asuranthakudu
Achyuthdu sree Venkatadrimeedanide, Achyutha Achyutha sarananavo

Hari is indestructible .Hari is the beginning and end. Hari, the indestructible, killed all rakshasas. The Lord of seven hills is "The same Achyuthudu". So, o mind, take resort in Hari,
by chanting, praying Achutha, Achyutha.

In this song, Annamayya calls Lord Venkatesa with different names. Govinda, Hari, Vishnu, Achyutha are all different names of that Universal ultimate Devine power, which creates and runs this universe. Everything is in that Supreme all pervading, and that is in everything., says Annamayya.

                                    Om Namo Venkatesaya

Nanati bathuku natakamu

Pallavii:                 Nanati bathuku natakamu, kanaka Kannadi kaivalyamu

This life is a drama. One experiences the "Realisation of God " only by Gnana chakshu".
"Kanaka Kannadi" means, not seaing with physical eyes, but visualising.by mind.

Charanam1                           Puttutau nijamu, povutau nijamu, nattanadimi pani natakamu
                            Ettaedutagaladee prapanchamu, kattakadapatidi  kaivalyamu

The greatest truth is, the" theory of cycle of births". Once born has to die, and once dead has to take another birth. This changing of body is a biggest truth of Life. This theory is the key of entire Hindu philosophy. Punarjanma" is the pivotal point of Hindu philosophy  But the rest in between this birth and death of a life is all drama. Straight to you stands this world, which you think as real. But, it is not so. Finally, the ultimate truth is "Realisation of God."

Charanam2                Thegadu papamu, theeradu punyamu, nagi nagi kalamu natakamu
                                  Eguvane sreeVenkateswaru elika,gaganamu meedidi kaivalyamu

The negative, positive charges, accumulated because of the bad and good acts of a life are called
Sanchita karma".This Sanchita karma never depletes in its' accounts. Reason is, the fruits of our actions in different births, increase the account of  sanchita karma phal. To end this, one has to develop Bhakti towards Lord Venkatesa. The Ruler of this entire universe, Sree Venkatesa is the "Ultimate Supreme Cosmic Power". The goal of anybody's life is, Experiencing his presence.

In this song, Annamayya emphasises single word, i.e., Natakamu.
He  clearly says that life is a drama, and purpose of life is  nothing but " God's Realisation ".

                                               Namo Venkatesaya
